It Lives Inside Box Office Collection

The second new movie this weekend, “It Lives Inside,” a low-budget supernatural demonic thriller from Neon, debuted in seventh place with $2.6 million from 2,005 theatres. It’s not a fantastic outcome for a movie that was shown on more than 2,000 screens, but fortunately for the distributor, the movie wasn’t made for a lot of money.
The movie “It Lives Inside” outperformed “Dumb Money” at the box office. With a meh $2.4 million from 616 million locations, Sony’s comic drama starring Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, and America Ferrera came in seventh. The R-rated movie has so far brought in $2.8 million.

The worldwide box office take for It Lives Inside is predicted to be around $3,064,233. Megan Suri, Neeru Bajwa, Mohanan Krishnan, Betty Gabriel, Vik Sahay, and Siddhartha Minhas play the key characters in the movie. The Get Out creators are the ones who produce it. The film is subject to enormous expectations.

Background Of The Movie

Filmmaker Bishal Dutta revealed that despite growing up with American horror movies, he has always been interested in “dual identity” horror during It Lives Inside’s South by South-west festival premiere. The Pishach, a flesh-eating demon in Hindu and Buddhist mythology renowned as the incarnation of evil, is the main character of It Lives Inside, even though the story is set in America.

The idea is intriguing, and this is not the first cross-cultural film of its kind. His House, directed by Remi Weekes, is set in the United Kingdom and centres on an “apeth,” a demon from South Sudan. It has been hailed as one of the best horror movies of 2020.

Rating And Reviews

  • Horrifying Opening Scenes: The film gets off to a terrific start with these frightening opening shots that arouse curiosity and inspire anticipation for what’s to come.
  • Successful Jump Scares: The movie does an excellent job at including jump scares (a technique used in horror movies to scare the viewers) that work, giving viewers a thrilling and immersive experience—especially in a crowded theatre.
  • Unusual Cultural Background: “It Lives Inside” stands out by deviating from the usual Hollywood horror themes and exploring Indian mythology, which gives the plot a distinctive edge.
  • Positive viewer experience: Some viewers said the movie was funny, fresh, thrilling, and frightful, indicating they had a good time watching it.

The Movie is Rated PG-13 for terror:

  • IMDb: 5.6/10 rating
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 85%; ⅘  star rating

Bottom Line

Telling an Indian-American horror story, especially one that takes place in a suburb, ought to have provided a wealth of rich opportunities. Dutta’s film “It Lives Inside” appears to be decent on the outside, yet it suffers from significant flaws in plot, concepts, and tension.
